No outside work, Just playing
Ma called me early this afternoon, just as I was thinking about going outside to do some stuff in the windy warm weather. But, she had more fun things to do.
She asked if I wanted to go to the apple orchard just NW of Vesta. I couldn’t pass that up. She said that Dad was sleeping all day today because he had been awake through the night again. She said the nurses fed him a warm glass of milk and a turkey sandwich with the hopes that he would go to sleep. But, that didn’t work. So, Mom thought it would be a good time to head to the apple orchard, before I got busy in the fields and before they closed for the season.
So, Mom and Mae met me in Redwood Falls, in the Walmart parking lot. Then we headed to Holmberg Orchard. There we enjoyed browsing and picking out apples from the apple walk-in refrigerator. After that we took a jaunt, making our trip back to Redwood Falls just a bit longer. We headed up to the Upper Sioux Agency State Park. There we did a little exploring, taking short hikes on a couple trails. Since Mom’s knee continues to give her trouble, the hikes were shortened by a great deal compared to what they may have been if her knee didn’t give her trouble.
After the State Park visit, we took the scenic route back, following the Minnesota River bottom route. Along the route, Mom pointed out a couple points of interested that I was vague about from trips Mom had taken me on when I was a child. We also stopped at a historical building that I’d never stopped at before. Hopefully I will remember to stop there if/when I take my family members on the road trip.
We got back to Redwood Falls around 6 p.m., where Mom dropped me off by my car and Mom and Mae headed to the new McDonald’s for supper and I headed home to make supper for Russ and enjoy the evening with him.
It was an enjoyable afternoon.
