Nicholas Visits G&G's Farm
Nicholas came to visit us this weekend. Of course, he had help getting here. Daddy brought him. His mommy was spending quality time with Aunt Amy and Grandma Mona. I have a sneaking feeling that it was an experiment for Mommy to find out if she "survive" be away from him for an overnighter. Duane had said that she has a conference this next week that will take her away from home over night.
Nicholas was pure joy. He cried very little - only when he was hungry and when he was tired.
We were concerned that he might have a little trouble staying overnight away from home.
Last weekend I was told that he had spent an overnighter at Grandpa & Grandma W. and that he didn't sleep much at all and did a lot of crying. But, he was real good here. He went to bed just after 8 and slept till sometime around 2:30. After being fed, he again slept, this time till about 6:30.
Every moment we had with Duane and Nicholas was precious. Nicholas even giggled for me. I've seen him smile - but one has to work it out of him. It's even harder to work a giggle out of him. AT LEAST, it is for us. I've seen his mommy work her charms. And she gets him to smile lots. He started giggling more after I last babysat in February. And I hear he does it lots, again, for his mommy. Mommy is so special.
Mean while, when Duane and Nicholas were here, we caught 2 rabbits and a squirrel in our live trap this weekend (each separately.) The picture below is a rabbit in the trap. We hadn't caught anything all winter. Then we catch 3 in one day. We do this more for sport for Doobie. Duane let them out and Doobie attempted to catch them. Last summer she caught nearly all the squirrels that were trapped. But, as she gets older and her osteoporosis affects her, she doesn't run as fast. Because of this, I think she doesn't try as hard either. But, it sure is fun to bark at them once she notices that they are in the trap.
