Busy

I see it's been nearly a month since I last posted anything. I guess that means I've been pretty busy.

A synopsis (of what I can remember):
The main floor bathroom is nearly finished! I scrambled with getting the painting done and flooring layed down in order to get it done before Plumber Dennis B. had to get into the field. Had it been a normal year, he would have been done with corn planting before finishing his part of our bathroom. But, rain delayed that and gave him ample time to finish. The painting and laying of the floor took nearly a week. I finished that and then Dennis finished right after Mother's day, installing one last shelf for me (with all other stuff done Friday before Mother's day). We can use it now. But I've got the little things left to do. I need to hang various items like the toilet tissue holder, a couple shelves and the towel rods. I am also trying to make the medicine cabinet mirror frame and the light bar wood piece match the vanity. That has been a challenge! I may just have to decide on something and live with it.
The attic windows were in serious disrepair, with the cute little window panes falling out of the frames and landing to the ground, breaking. With some further investigation, much of the wood that held those little panes in were rotten. Also, the wood on some of the other attic windows was rotten. Thus, all attic windows but one (the one repaired last year) were taken to a repair shop. At this point, only the window repaired last year hangs in its proper local. All others have been repaired and are in the midst of being painted - with the primer job done last night. I also painted the sills and casing in the attic. Unfortunately I'm not a monkey and can't hang out the window openings and paint the entire doghouse part of the attics. I will just have to be "happy" with the casing and sills being painted. So, at this point, nothing keeps out the birds, bees and worse yet wasps! Oh, maybe that's not the worse. Maybe the weather is. I hope any serious storming holds off till after I'm done. Otherwise I'm going to have to scramble to put some plastic over the openings!
While all this is going on, the grass and weeds are growing, growing, growing! While most people had mowed their lawns once, possible twice before Mother's day, I had been so busy with the bathroom project and attic windows that I hadn't gotten to that until the end of this last week. The weather had also improved long enough for me to get that accomplished too. So, I got the lawn mowed and weeds sprayed over the weekend. A "nice" groomed lawn always makes me feel better. Glad to have it done.
Also, I had been babysitting little Mitchell for 2 mornings a week up until Tuesday, May 13th, with the exception of the week of April 28th thru May 2nd. That week I was hard at painting. Plus Russ came home Friday, May 2nd. Spring semester is done now, so Anna won't need my help now for awhile. The only reason I watched Mitchell was cuz her regular daycare had a minimum charge per week that amounted to a rediculous amount per hour for her needs at the time. Anna was going to school 2 mornings a week and the $'s just weren't reasonable. So, I filled in for a short time, helping her to save some of those bucks.
And then there is our farming. I've made myself as available as I could. I helped with some working up. Ronny finished corn planting last night while I was painting the attic casings. He had asked that I be available for working up the bean ground this morning while he went to town to pick up bean seed. But, it rained some last night. Thus, I haven't seen hide nor hair of him this morning. I didn't think it rained that much. But, I haven't worked in that field. So, it's possible that any amount of rain would be too much. Although I'm antsy to get the field work done - since this planting season has drug on so long - I have to trust Ronny's judgement that it's apparently not fit to work. I'll give him a call pretty soon to find out what he's thinking here shortly.

Some synopsis! And I didn't even include things like Mother's day and partying and Mother's for Dad's birthday and Mother's day. I'm sure I forgot other things too!

Thinking forward: This next weekend is Memeorial Day weekend. Russ is coming home. I'm looking forward to that! David and Adrienne move out of their Duluth home on May 31st. That is a particularly busy day. Matthew is having his graduation party that evening. I hope David, Adrienne and I have the moving done so we can attend his party! They are moving in with me until after the wedding. They will be moving to St. Paul in July for when David continues his Doctor training. So, moving home seemed the most reasonabl thing to do - sticking their wedding plans in there too! Their wedding is continually a part of my thoughts these days and I'm not even the guest of honor. Just imagine how they feel!

Well, enough rambling for now! Hopefully I'll get back to this a little sooner next time. But, it is Spring and so much to do. -- Nicholas, thanks for helping me plant my Easter gift. The plants have sprouted and so far still green and will continue to be if I don't forget to water them!
