Catching Up
I've taken a hiatus from blogging. It's been just over a week since I've made any entries.
Russ left for Norfolk, VA Saturday, July 14th for a new job through Parsons Corp. This job will keep there for just over a year. He stayed in Kentucky Saturday night. He arrived in Norfolk, VA late Sunday, July 15th. The trip should have taken 3 days. But, he pushed hard because he left a day later than originally planned. Russ needed to get some farm related work done throughout the week and he took an extra day to do that. So, Friday the 13th he used for packing up the Parson's office supplies that he had used in OK and his personal belongings. Thus, he took off for VA just after 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Last week was kinda rough for both Russ and me. I was working on changing my mindset for Russ being gone. Russ had to do the same. But, he also had to contemplate better living accommodations. He was staying in an expensive extended stay hotel. Between adjusting to the new job and looking for living accommodations, Russ became quite frazzled. I could hear it in his voice throughout our daily conversations.
Russ's monkey isn't totally off his back yet. He hasn't found a place to live yet. Fortunately, Clint, the foreman he's helping out, is allowing Russ to stay at his apartment this week while he continues to look.
You may have heard that Russ was going to take his travel trailer out there. But, after Russ drove through the mountains he felt uncomfortable with that choice. Russ looked at an option of hiring someone to take the trailer out there for us. But, it wasn't cost effective. Also, the places that would let him have a travel trailer was either slummy or posed problems for long term rental because of the tourism trade.
After much discussion with me, Russ and I conferred that he should look for an apartment that is located in a location that feels safe. So, that is where we are at for him finding living accommodations. Now, with Clint's help, he continues with the search.
One more thing that happened while I was on hiatus was Anna's wedding shower (Saturday, July 14th). It turned out pretty good. She got lots of nice items. Colette, Mom, Evelyn, Karen, Sarah and Mary were in attendance too. If interested in more details, they may have some for you. Below are some photos of the wedding shower in progress.

Sorry to hear of all the problems with Russ' new living accomodations. He'll probably find something quickly. Looks like the shower was fun. I was working--bummer AND I had to make a trade to make sure I was off for the wedding. Life's little complications!! Got a new dog--see blog.
