The Weekend

This weekend was a good one. Russ got some work done with the electrical in the old milk house. This work will take quite some time to finish. But, he got a bit more accomplished on it this weekend. He worked that in when he wasn't visiting with family or friends.

And the best part of the weekend - Duane, Steph and Nicholas visited. They came in the early afternoon on Saturday. They needed to be in a little town just south of Madison, SD on Sunday. They were not looking forward to the long drive. So, they came to our place on Saturday afternoon to split up the drive. They had a busy weekend planned. Before coming to our place they went to the kiddie parade in Montgomery for Kolacky Days. Steph's sister-in-law had made cardboard John Deere tractors that was to be mounted to the strollers, one for Nicholas and one for his cousin, Emma. Steph and her sister-in-law then pushed the "tractors" with their passengers while in the parade. Steph's sister-in-law did an amazing job making the tractors.

After Duane, Steph and Nicholas arrived, we had a wonderful visit with them. Russ got to spend time playing with Nicholas quite a bit too. The boy is growing so fast, it's fun to see. I'll be babysitting on Monday and Tuesday, so I tried not to monopolize much of his time.

In the evening, Steph wanted to go to Church. So, the plan was that she would take Duane and Nicholas into Fairfax to see Great-grandma Corinne and then go to Church. That is just what they did.

Then, they came back home and we enjoyed the evening together.

On Sunday, I got up earlier than I normally do. Duane had told me that they wanted to be on the road no later than 9 a.m., so they're target a departure time of 8:30 a.m. I had asked them on Saturday if they both like bacon and eggs. They do, so I planned on making bacon and eggs for breakfast for them. I think they appreciated the planned breakfast. I know they both commented on how good the bacon was. Calvin can take credit for that. The hog meat came from his farm!

After breakfast, Duane and Steph got things rounded up and buckled Nicholas into the car and left. They made it out by 9 a.m. But, they still had a long trip to make. Also, their trip home would be even longer - a 4 hr trip. They definitely had a busy weekend!

As for Russ and me, Russ worked more on the electrical project. He recruited me for some help in the afternoon. Since Russ had to catch a plane in the evening, we couldn't work on that real late. We left for the airport around 4 p.m.

We were concerned that his flight may be canceled due to flying with Northwest Airlines, but it wasn't. Russ called me when I was by Glencoe, on my way home, letting me know that he had boarded the plane. Also, he called me just before 10 p.m. my time (11 p.m. his time), letting me know that he'd arrived without incidents. That concluded the weekend.
