Easter Sunday 2007

Easter Sunday turned out excellent! We all ate a lot and had a lot of fun.

Nicholas held his bottle on his own for the 1st time!

Duane won the nut-gift. I have continued this tradition from my Mom. Normally it's done at Christmas time. But, we weren't all able to get together at the same time this past Christmas. Thus, I kept the gift for Easter. The tradition goes like this: I make some Swedish Rice Pudding. I put a nut in one of the bowls. I fill enough bowls for the kids (when they were growing up, it was 3 bowls; now it's 6 bowls). Then the one who got the nut gift last year has to wait till last to pick a bowl. The one who got it the year before has to wait 2nd to last, etc. After each has chosen, they eat the rice pudding and look for the nut in their bowl. Whomever gets the nut, gets the nut gift.

Somewhere along the line, Duane said that the nut gift has to be something that they all use together. I suppose when I first started, I always gave a board game or some other game that they would all play together. Thus, the nut-gift winner will end up sharing the gift in the end.

Here, they are playing the game won by Duane. The game is Cranium. They had loads of fun.

The kids had so much fun that the noise level was just a little high. Thus, it woke up Nicholas from his nap. After his mommy got him from his nap, she and the other continued playing. A belt of laughter from the group startled poor Nicholas and he started crying. Below, grandpa is comforting him. (Notice the tear on his cheak.) Grandpa is a godsend!
