Nicholas Back to his Home
I took Nicholas back to his home this morning. He got up after 8 a.m. Thus, there wasn't enough time to go see G-Gma D. So, we headed straight on down. We stopped at the hospital first. I think Mommy and Daddy were happier to see him than he was to see them. But, they all enjoyed the visit.
Nicholas got to hear baby brother James cry for the first time. Any other time he was there James was sleeping. So it was a treat to see Nicholas' reaction. Just thinking about his reaction, we got to thinking how that before James was born Mommy and Daddy would ask Nicholas where his little brother was. Of course, after time, he pointed to Mommy's tummy. So Mommy asked him today where his little brother was. And he pointed to James. I guess little ones do catch on quickly!
Steph got her dinner while we were there. She had milk, pudding and tomato soup. She also had coffee - but wasn't about to drink that stuff! (eeywww) She said she wasn't very hungry. But ate all of it anyways. She thinks she's not all that hungry because they give her nourishment through the central line (the tube that installed into her clavicle down to a point next to her heart.)
After her dinner she, Nicholas, James and Daddy went for a walk in the halls. After her walk and a bathroom break she was tired. So was Nicholas. Grandma W (she was there when we arrived), Duane, Nicholas and I headed to the house so Steph could start her nap and Nicholas could hopefully unwind for a nap. Since he was gone all week, he'd have to check everything out in the house before a nap would be a consideration.
Duane and I chatted about plans for next week while Grandma W worked on guiding Nicholas toward his nap. (Duane had to go home to pick up something Steph wanted. Otherwise he'd probably had stayed at the hospital.)
Today and tomorrow Grandma W will spend time with Nicholas so I can get a mental break and try a get some things done around my home that I wasn't able to do while Nicholas was here. Bookkeeping sounds like a good plan for me. And than tomorrow evening I'll start a week stay with Nicholas and his family. Nicholas needs to get back into his routine again. He'll be having a special speech class starting this next week. So he needs to be home.
Than, hopefully, Steph will be going home on Sunday or Monday. She'll need extra help with the boys. So that's why I'll be there. Duane will need to get back to work soon. So he won't be able to be home with Steph during the days for much longer. I'll help with wherever they feel I should. But, as for tonight and tomorrow, I'll be at my home.
