Steph update And Nicholas' Day

It sounds like Steph is doing better. She is allowed to drink milk today. Apparently, she is currently on a clear liquid diet - but they let her have milk today. Steph and Duane are still quite cautious because neither want to have a repeat of this. (This is understandable.) While Duane and I chatted, Steph was holding James.

As for at home here, Nicholas and I stayed home. He had a pretty good day today, with the exception of (as G-Gma A says) him kissing the ground a couple times. The first time he was throwing a fit and lost his footing. He landed on his chin, getting a bit of a mark there. With a bit of comforting, he faired o.k. The second time, he was on his knees on a regular kitchen chair during supper. His one knee got to close to the edge of the chair and he lost his balance and went off. Again, with some comforting, he faired o.k.

As for the rest of the day, he played his usual. In the a.m. we made several trips down into the basement. I think he likes to see the goldfish that I keep in the sheep watering trough. But, I also thinks it's just as much the turning the light on in the basement and making the trip. In the afternoon he "suggested" that we go down again. But this grandma wasn't in the mood for the trip again. To my amazement, he didn't make any extended fuss about it and didn't insist any other time for the rest of the day. It may have helped that I played with Ginny.

Ginny was in a goofy playful mood. Also, she is a strange cat. Most cats will disappear when a youngster is around and not show up till it's all quiet again. Not Ginny. It's as if she intends to torment Nicholas. She hangs around. And any time he tries to do much with her, she runs a little ways away. Than he follows her and they repeat it. Sometimes she lays on my quilt cutting table just out of reach of him and watches him as he gets all excited with joy and pounds on the table. Today, though, I started pulling a string of hers around and she chased it. He had a blast watching her when she'd tear after it. He'd giggle and giggle with excitement. That, mixed with playing with his cars and watching out the window while Ronny blew snow took up most of his post-nap afternoon time.

Tomorrow I plan to take stop in at G-Gma D's before taking him home to Owatonna to see his mommy and daddy. We're not sure if he'll be able to see G-Gma D though. A lady from our church died recently and the funeral is tomorrow. G-Gma will have to leave in the a.m. So, we'll see her only if we getted started soon enough. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to seeing their eldest. They haven't seen him since last Sunday and miss him dearly.
