Nicholas
I babysat Nicholas yesterday while Steph attended a farewell party for one of her co-workers. I attempted to get photos of Nicholas smiling. Most of the time he staired at the camera regardless of my chatting and talking, an attempt to take his attention from the camera onto me. I'm not sure, but I think he kept stairing at the camera because he was waiting for the flash of light. Maybe he enjoys the flash.

I did get a couple snapshots of him smiling. I think this one is the best. He's such a ham and is so adorable. It's no wonder why his mother has enjoyed all her time off with him. It's fun watching her talk to him, getting him to smile and coo. I don't know who has whom wrapped around their little pinky finger, Steph around Nicholas' finger or the other way around. It'll be fun watching their relationship grow. Nicholas was asleep when Duane came home. So I didn't get to see their interaction.
The picture of the cutouts are Nicholas weight progress reports from the Newborn class Steph and Nicholas attend weekly. That will be coming to an end soon. Steph will be returning to work at the end of next week. It's fun to see his progress. If you can't see the picture very well, just click on it and the full size picture will be opened in this window.
Here Nicholas is asleep in his crib. I couldn't resist. I had to take a "Sleeping Nicholas" picture. I shut off the flash so I wouldn't disturb his sleep. It worked and he continued to sleep for approximately a half hour longer. When babsitting yesterday, Nicholas slept quite a bit. I think his grandma was too boring for him - though Duane and Steph would say he was comfortable with me. Steph had mentioned that he takes catnaps, sleeping about 10 minutes each time. Well, for me, he slept for long stretches of time. I think he fell asleep the second time around 3:30, 4:00 in the afternoon. He was still asleep when Duane came home. He awoke breifly after Duane arrived. I then held him a bit, after which he fell back asleep and I put him back in his little chair. And he didn't wake up before I left around 7 p.m. I wondered if the little tike slept at all overnight, giving Duane and Steph much of a peaceful rest. Oh well. Everyone tells me that that's the life of a grandparent. Spoil the kid, go home then let the parents deal with them after we've gone. Such as it is, I enjoyed being grandma yesterday.
