Field Work Continues

Field work continues. Russ and Ronny have been prepping the fields and working on the planter. Yesterday they dragged the soon-to-be corn fields, put anhydrous on them and worked them with the field cultivator. They didn't finish, thus Ronny continues while Russ is at work. Then when Russ gets home, he'll assess the situation with Ronny and continue where needed. (Russ worked yesterday too. He went in the field last night.)

This makes for very long days for Russ. He gets up around 5 a.m. every normal day. He continues this during field work time, but doesn't get done working till after 8 p.m. when he adds farming to his work. Last night he finished up about 8:30. (I don't know the time Ronny gets up.)

I monkeyed in the house yesterday till around 4 p.m. Then I went outside and did some odd jobs. The trench where the water line was dug (from the new well) has been caving in at points and is mounded at other points. I took the BobCat (skid steer loader) and attempted to fix this problem. I was able to fill some of the cave-in and somewhat level some of the mounds. But I think this will be an on going project. As the ground settles, the trench will need more attention.

While outside and working on the trench, I took the BobCat over to a fallen tree and attempted removing it. -- The tree had fallen West of the old grainery in the path of my mowing area. -- When the attempt failed, I parked the BobCat and got my chainsaw spring ready. With a little help from Ronny - who was working on the planter at the time - the chainsaw started.

I then cut up the fallen tree into three BobCat managable pieces and cut down a (small) tree that was in the way. After putting the chainsaw to the side, I used the BobCat to lift and remove the pieces. I hauled them to location where the pile was started last year, East of the place, next to the field.

Now with that task is finished, I can attempt to mow the hippy lawn. Thus, today, after doing some bookwork, I'm going to attempt to get some lawn mowed. Hope the lawn mower is up to a workout!
