Ooooo The Yellow

Ooooo, so pretty. Just kidding. I look at our lawn, see all the yellow and just hang my head and shake it. In addition to all the dandelions, gophers are having a good ole time making mounds all over our yard, even right next to the house. BUT, I'm not positive that all the damage is due to gophers. Some of it could be the work of shrews. I say this because earlier this spring (maybe late winter,) a shrew was caught in a sticky trap in the house. Be assured, I was quite surprised to see a shrew and not a mouse! Even so, gophers are ravaging our yard. It's time to call in help.

The yellow problem won't be too difficult to solve. Russ will spray them with a herbicide. He started getting the 4-wheeler mounted sprayer ready last night. But, just as it was ready, more rain came. Thus, that's held off for a bit.

But, the gopher problem is a bit more than Russ and I can handle. We've discussed solutions. And one of the solutions is to pay a neighbor boy to trap them. I made the phone call, but got the answering machine. Now I await the return call.

The biggest obstacle to using this solution is the cost. It costs nearly $2000.00. I won't be using it any time soon. Guess it makes it a lot easier to pay the neighbor boy!
