Babysitting Day
Yesterday I was blessed with the opportunity to babysit my grandson due to Steph's dental appointment in the afternoon. (She wasn't looking forward to that appointment). I arrived early so she could do two hand things. This gave me the opportunity to spoil my grandson. Steph went through Nicholas' piles of clothes, sorting too small, just right, and still too big. While she did that, I spoiled Nicholas and enjoyed chatting with Steph.
When it was time, Steph went to her appointment and I continued spoiling Nicholas. I haven't lost my touch. He drank his meal and napped a bit in his crib. While he was napping, I had the baby monitor on. I listened to his noises and decided to turn off the monitor. Listening to the noises put me on edge because I didn't know if he needed me to get him or was just making his normal stretching noises, etc. I decided that I could hear his cries from where I was in the house and the crying would be my cue. I can see where baby monitors would be helpful when you aren't in earshot - like when going to the basement to do laundry. But, I guess I'm too nervous to handle listening to a babies every noise.
Also, while he was napping, I worked on my Christmas cards. You should see yours coming any day now!
My babysitting allowed time for Steph to go shopping without lugging all the baby stuff along. She took advantage (with my encouragement) and took some items back to a store that she had been meaning to do for some time. She arrived back before Duane got home from work and we chatted some more.
After Duane got home, they gave Nicholas a bath. I made a collage (below). (Hope it turned out o.k.) After bath time, Duane and Steph went out on a date - for dinner. (Almost called it supper.) I believe this was this was their first night out without Nicholas since he was born. I'm glad I am available to be of service for such things.
Vegas enjoys Nicholas' toy.
Steph is showing the outdoors to Nicholas.
I think the silhouette look is sublime.
