Mellow Saturday

Today has been pretty mellow up to this point. This morning Russ and I did farm bookwork together. Sometimes it's just better for me to have him looking over my shoulder. Then when I have questions, he's right there. We didn't have much bookwork to do, but I had lots of questions about what a lot of the entries entailed - especially those checks that Ronny wrote out and did not put down a memo. I sure am glad Russ knows about those entries.

While working on bookwork in our office that is in the Northwest corner of the house we noticed how cold the room was (is). The wind is out of the Northwest, blowing what warmth is in this room to the South side of the house. I got to thinking how glad I am that the furnace is working today. Yesterday it wasn't. Russ and I goofed and forgot to order out fuel oil soon enough. The tank ran dry and the furnace ceased to provide warmth. I'm sure glad this all happened on a weekday, and not today. The place we get our fuel oil from was open. They delivered before 10:30 a.m. Then, when the furnace still didn't work, I called the plumber. He needed to replace the fuel filter at the bottom of the tank and also the nozzle. If this had all happened today, I believe we would have more difficulty getting the services we need. Blessings come in disguises I guess. Not only did we goof with getting fuel oil out in time, but we hadn't had the furnace checked in years. This, I guess, was our opportunity to get it done.

Now, as we stay warm and the bookwork is pretty much done for another day, Russ is taking the rest of the afternoon to catch up on "watching" golf, while I continue to scan old photos into the computer. Russ's "watching" golf is really taking a nap in his Lazy Boy chair while the TV hums with golf broadcasting noise. This, I'm sure, comes quite welcome since Russ worked through last weekend. Hopefully he'll catch up on some rest. (Russ did attempt to find something on the networks that both of us wanted to watch. But the selections were even quite poor by my standards.)
