Reminiscing

As I look at these photos, I remember why I have them. Mom was very good to me when my family and I lived in Brownsboro, Texas. I was extremely homesick. We didn't have a phone in our apartment. Russ had taken a job through Willmar Electric Service in Willmar, MN that took him to Texas (job location: Tyler, TX). Mom would send us photos of what was going on back home. The left one was Grandma's new pup, Tuffy. We hadn't seen him yet, thus, the picture. The right one was evidence of how much snow there was back home. This also brings back the another memory. I remember that we had planned to fly back home for the Christmas holiday. Around then, very close to Christmas, I remember standing outside the apartment in the evening - after dark. The wind was blowing. The weather there was warm enough that snow was not a consideration. But I remember listening to the wind and thinking how the wind sounded as if it could have been a blizzard. I guess I was truely homesick - when the thought of a blizzard was comforting.
