Back Home In Fairfax
I left Washburn, ND at about 8:00 a.m. or so. Russ had left the motel a couple hours earlier (I believe - I was sleeping when he left & I got up about 7:30 a.m.) I drove straight through, with the exception of stopping in Fargo, ND for gas and a bite to eat. I arrived home at about 3:00 p.m. The drive took its toll on me, so I didn't do much last night. Even when Russ called, I wasn't able to concentrate very well on what he said. Our conversation was relatively short because of it.
This morning I headed to New Ulm to get a set of duplicate keys made for the Buick (since one of our sets disappeared) and have the oil changed. I stopped at Jensen Motors first for the duplicate keys. Because I had wanted a remote with this set of keys, they had to have the car in the shop to program the remote. So I had to have an appointment, which I had made on Friday for today. All was going well till they came out to tell me that they did not have the right blank ignition key. I'll have to go back after they inform me that they have it. Fortunately I did not have to pay them today.
Next I went to Tires Plus and had he oil changed. While they changed oil, I went to Target (across the street from Tires Plus) and did some browsing. I took some time to do a little Easter shopping for my grand babies. After that I went to an auto parts store (also across the street from Tires Plus) and picked up some floor mats for the Buick. When I was don with that I headed back to Tires Plus to find they were done. I paid the bill, then went to Cashwise to restock some of the perishable foods that I didn't have since I was gone for so long.
After the grocery shopping, I headed to Mom's. I arrived at her place at about noon. I found mom was not home. Since I had wanted to stop by Dad's and visit him too, I headed into Morgan's Nursing Home. There I found Mom by Dad at the dinner table. Mom said Dad ate all his dinner and two deserts! She also said he ate it all with his eyes closed! When I got there they were sharing some Hershey Kisses and some Andes Mints - There treat for St. Patrick's Day. (By the way, Happy St. Patty's Day.)
While there, I gave Mom and Dad each a picture of their latest great grandchild. Then I spent time with both of them. After dinner, I wheeled Dad back to his room so Mom and I could post James' picture on the bulletin board in Dad's room. While we were doing that Duane the N.A. helped Dad with some personal matters. He needed to have Dad stand up and walk a bit with his walker. Since Dad was on a roll with that (and doing well - for Dad), we took a walk down the hall to a door, which allowed Dad to observe some little birds. Then we turned around and went back down that hall the other way. We rounded the corner by the Nurses' Station and Dad decided he was all tuckered out, thus done with his walk.
While Mom and I were talking earlier, she told me the Home was having a fund raiser, selling Schwann's goods. Mom and I took Dad into the craft room where the information for that fund raiser was. While we sat by the table, looking at the Schwann's catalog, Dad fell asleep in his wheel chair. Mom thought Dad would feel more comfortable in the Lazy Boy type chair. So, we headed to that area of the dining room and got a couple N.A.'s to help Dad to that chair.
Mom and I chatted while Dad snoozed and I browsed through the catalog. Since I had perishables in the car, I had to do this relatively quickly. After bidding Mom and Dad farewell, I left the Nursing Home at around 2 p.m.
After this I went home and put the groceries away. I don't remember all the specifics of what I did the rest of the day. But, I do remember taking time to play with my pussy cat. She apparently has been quite deprived lately. Because she actually took the time to play with me.
As I finish writing this, Russ has just turned his computer on, signing into his Instant Messenger. That's my cue (since I'm pretty much done with recapping my day) to finish up here. I'm sure he'll be calling me pretty soon.
A side note about the weather. Yesterday the temp got in the mid to upper 60's and today the temp got in the lower to mid 50's. No measurable precipitation either day. What a couple of beautiful days!
