Gooseberry Falls State Park Visit
Since Thursday was such a long day, Friday proved to be a good day to put off site seeing and take a little rest. Thus, we didn't go to Gooseberry Falls till Saturday - our scheduled day to go back home.
We went straight up to Gooseberry Falls so we were sure to get to see that site before leaving. Anything else would be a bonus.
The picture to the left is Alex and Colette taking the path towards the Visitor Center. We stopped in there first for a bathroom break, then on we went to the falls area.
Here, left picture, Colette and Alex (amoungst other tourist) view the (lower) falls together. I don't know if this was a first for Colette, but it surely was for Alex.

Picture to the right: I view Colette threw a "hole". It was a rock formation that formed a bridge. Colette stayed behind while Alex and I took a short trip under this bridge to see what was on the other side.

There was a path down and around to the other side of the Falls. I hadn't taken it at my last stop, a year ago, with Russ. The day was very hot and moving in itself that day seemed to be work. We didn't take time to explore. The first time I was here, I came with Russ and the boys back in the early 1990's I believe. They were remodeling that day and none of these paths were here. It was time to explore.

This is one of the bridges that would take us to the other side. Colette and Alex are on it, checking out the sites.

Here is a view of the (lower part) Falls through trees from the path leading up to it.

Alex takes time to take a picture.

... Another spot to view and take pictures.

The (lower) Falls from the other side.

We stopped at a wayside rest on our way back. Alex and I took time to get out and see the sites. This tunnel was being built when Russ, the boys and I came up in the early 1990's. I believe the historical marker said it was finished and opened in 1992.

These last two photos are views from the walking path beside the tunnel, up to the historical marker.

The lake was quite peaceful and calm this day.
After seeing the views, we headed back to the campground, where we had supper and prepared to get ready to go home. Russ was quite helpful. He made supper for us and helped us get the bikes on the rack on the car.
We got home (to my place) around 10, 10:30 p.m. And then Colette, Alex and I unpacked our things and placed them in her car or in my house (ownership affecting the decision). Then Colette and Alex went on there way home. This ended our Sisters' Vacation. All-in-all it was quite memorable. I hope Verna, Mya, Colette and Alex had as much fun or more fun than I did.
