Skyline Parkway Drive - Duluth
I took today to drive the Skyline Parkway Drive in Duluth. The day had started out with rain. So, I took my time getting going. - No rush. I'm on vacation.
Because it started out a rainy day, the views in Duluth were a bit foggy. But, it was still enjoyable. My intent of taking this drive was to try and find sites that David and Adrienne had shown us one of the last times they showed us around. I was hoping to find Enger Tower and Chester Bowl, a park by Chester Creek.
Well, while searching, I enjoyed the drive. That is one beautiful drive. If you get a chance, take the drive.

The left photo is explains about the view below (right photo) was originally a small town that survived and became part of Duluth. Towards the center of the right photo, one can just make out the St. Louis Bay and some its port docks.
After this stop, I continued on my Skyline drive and drove past Enger Golf course, but couldn't find any signs pointing out where to turn to go to Enger Tower. Onward I went, getting a bit confused on the drive to continue finding the Skyline Parkway drive. The first part was the West side. Crossing over to the East side proved to be a bit tricky. But, with a few twists and turns, I found myself back on track. I kept going, enjoying the scenery and continuing on to Chester Bowl. I found it! It was now time to find a biffy. That proved to be tricky too, but, I HAD to go! I had to go all the way into the park to the end, near a ball field, where I found a port-a-potty.
T
hat behind me, I headed back to see if I could find Enger Tower on my way back. Again, I got a bit confused crossing over from the East to the West. But, I got back on track and found myself going past Enger Golf course again. While going by, and re-iterating what I'd seen before, I noticed a road called Hank Jensen Dr that was on both sides of the golf course. I reasoned that it must circle around. And, the Tower must be somewhere on that drive. I had remembered seeing the golf course behind the tower (with the harbor on the front side) when David and Adrienne had take us there last year. So, it must be very close.
The day was running out. Russ would be back from work soon and I wanted to be sure to spend plenty of time with him since I was up in the area where he was. So, I passed on finding it anymore this day. I'll have to do a little more research. (The Enger Tower photo was taken Aug, 2006 when David and Adrienne took us there.)
So, back I went, to the campground. I spent the rest of the evening with Russ. (He had made it back before I did.)
Below is a slideshow of the pictures I took last year. They are the sites from inside the tower, looking out. I hope it's enjoyable.
