More Yard Work

Today was busy. I started out by throwing a load of laundry in the washer. It's still there. Here's why.
I headed outside after breakfast (around 8:30 a.m.) and was going to cut off a few branches that poked me too severely when mowing lawn. I knew Ronny was stopping by to pick up the Bob Cat to take it in for repairs. So, I held off the urge to cut off these at ground level. I did cut one off at ground level. But, I was able to use the Bob Cat to dispose of it before Ronny came. The rest of the branches that I'd trimmed off I hauled over to the brush pile a couple at a time, walking. It took me most of the morning of the morning. I had decided then that I didn't need to take a walk today. I'd done more walking (back and forth) then I'd get in a normal walk.

After this, I needed a break. So, I headed in for dinner. After a burger, I went back out. I mowed lawn all afternoon, stopping only for a drink of water and a pee break. I was basically forced to quit around 6:00 p.m. The mower belt was squeaking. I thought something had gotten caught between the deck and the end of one of the blades, stopping the blade rotation and causing the belt to slip on the pulley. I got off the mower to check. But, I stopped investigating when I noticed one of the blades had both ends curled downward.

I knew the blades were getting thin and we'd need new ones soon. I guess this forces the issue. Probably have hit too many rocks and branches. I've put our mower through a lot! Speaking of that . . . Because the wind was blowing with gusts between 25 and 35 miles per hour, it blew the hood of the mower forward while I was mowing. (There is no latch to hold the hood down) This happened twice. The second time, it was pulled down towards the ground in front of me and I couldn't stop fast enough. I drove over just enough of the hood to break it to the point it can't be put back on easily. Now I look like a RedNeck or maybe more like a country Hick while mowing lawn.

Well, with all that mowing lawn and the wind blowing so hard, I was covered from head to toe in dirt. I was even eating the dirt, yum, yum! After getting in the house, the first thing on the agenda was a bath. I basically took two baths. The first one to remove most of the dirt. I drained the water and rinsed the dirt down the drain. The second bath took off the remaining dirt. By the time I finished, I barely had the ambition to make myself a meal. Thus, the clothes are still in the washer and remain there till tomorrow morning!
