Saturday events

Saturday started out by me going to New Ulm for our monthly quilt class. Russ was working on field work stuff when I left. Colette and I arrived at 8 a.m. at the bakery near the quilt store. There, we spent some time with Dad while Mae and Mom went to the 8 a.m. class. After that, Colette and I went to the 9 a.m. class while Mom, Dad and Mae ran some errands in town. We were going to all go to Babe's Blossoms after the quilt class, so arrangements were made to meet in Fairfax.

We met in Fairfax and all rode up there together in Mom's van. We all had a good time looking at all the flowers and most of us purchased some to plant in our flower beds. After that, we headed back to Fairfax and ate at the Corner Cafe. I invited them to my place to see what I've been up to, so Mom drove all (but Colette and me - I drove my car, and Colette rode with me) out to my place. We had a nice visit while looking over the things I've done. Mae recently dug in a fish pond at her place. So, she asked a few questions about my pond. (I had gotten the pond cleaned and stocked in the last couple weeks so it looks pretty now.) Then I showed them the north grove tree line and explained what I cut down and what my future plans are for the area.

They headed home after awhile. After they had gone, Russ and I put the new blades and belts on the mower and greased it. I had been using last years blades, etc. I hadn't wanted to change all that right away in the spring because I wanted to go through the rough spots with the old blades first. So, since the blades were shot now, we changed over to the new blades and made it officially ready for the season. Hopefully I've found all the nasty rocks and sticks where I've been mowing so that that stuff won't ruin the new blades!

After getting done with that, I made a test run with the mower. I would have continued mowing, but I wanted to get my flower bed prepped. I had a bit more tilling to do. So, I opted to let the grass grow a bit longer and started to till more in the flower bed.

Because it was getting late, I didn't finish. The rest would have to wait till tomorrow. I asked Russ if he wanted to see if John & Dawne wanted to come down for the evening. He did, so he called them and they came on by after they were finished at a graduation party. We had a good evening, chatting and catching up. I guess we hadn't seen enough of each other because they went home late. I think it was after 1 a.m. when Russ and I got to bed.
